Marty Bodnar has been involved in evangelistic and discipleship ministries since his basketball playing days at the University of Michigan, where he was a three year starter, co-captain and Academic All-American. Marty retired as Assoc. Athletic Director for the University of Michigan and now practices law with Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, PC. Marty and his wife have raised two children and Marty attends St. Andrews Catholic Church in Saline Mi.
Peter Ziolkowski and Stephen Safranek are also members of the Advisory Board as well as serve as directors of Mission Capital, the non-profit parent of Quest Sports Camps.
Dave Mayoros enjoyed playing football, wrestling, and running track at Riverview High School. Dave went on to coach football, cross-country, and track and field, both at Fordson and Edsel Ford High Schools, where he has taught Biology and Anatomy and Physiology for over 25 years, and coached soccer and basketball while teaching at the American School in England. Dave loves encouraging young men and women to follow the Lord Jesus Christ wherever and however he calls. He has worked as an assistant camp counselor, camp counselor activities director, and camp director at three different summer camps; Pine Hills Christian Camp, Work of Christ Summer Camp, and Domino’s Farm Summer Camp. “I am really looking forward to my role in assisting the young camp counselors for Quest Sports Camps this summer.”
Operations and Marketing
John Benz is from Ann Arbor and attends Ave Maria University where he is studying Business and Humanities. He joined the Quest Sports Camps team in 2015. John was a counselor at Pine Hills Boys Camp in Ann Arbor and is active in peer-to-peer evangelization on the Ave Maria campus through Mission Outreach. In high school, John lettered as a varsity hockey player three years.
A camp director is a qualified college-aged individual or college graduate with strong communication skills, a passion for their Christian faith, and coaching competence in their sport. Their primary responsibility is to be the “on-site” supervisor for each camp. Our Camp Directors include: Marion Weber (Basketball, Franciscan University), Alex Ziolkowski (Lacrosse, University of Dallas player), Peggy Shibata (Volleyball, Oral Roberts), Dave Lawrence (Football, Mi Hall of Fame Head Coach), Cassie McCarthy (Soccer, Schoolcraft College), and John Ozog (Soccer, former Mi Hawks ECL coach).
Camp Counselors are qualified college-aged individuals or high school students with a passion for their Christian faith, a desire to work with kids, and demonstrated athletic excellence. Counselors teach and encourage both faith and skill development.
